Built around the bayou
Dickinson Bayou Fleeting started on the stretch of water it is named after, between Dickinson and Galveston Bay. We bought the dock, cleaned it up, and started taking customers who needed somewhere to park a barge between loads. That turned into a second yard at Freeport on the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway, and into the operation we run now.
Small enough to answer the phone
When a dispatcher needs a barge moved at 4 a.m., or a surveyor needs a slip the same day, someone picks up who knows the dock and can make the call without checking with anyone. The crew is small and it does not turn over much, so the people working your barge this month are the people who worked it last month.
The water is the job
Galveston Bay and the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway are working waterways, and a spill on either one costs everybody who runs them. We keep containment on site, we check a contractor out before we let him tie up, and we would rather raise something with the Coast Guard ourselves than have it found. Ask and we will tell you how a particular job would be handled.
